Episode 25: The Importance of Remembering Names
One of the easiest ways to establish this positive connection and influence others quickly is to use people’s names!
In today’s episode, Sara speaks to something near and dear to her heart, and her “secret sauce” to relationship-building, which is the ability to remember and use clients’ and colleagues’ names. In this episode, she will get into the psychology of remembering names, how we use them for influence, and how we differentiate ourselves as luxury sellers and companies with the inclusion of our client’s names.
“Remember that a person’s name is to that person, the sweetest and most important sound in any language.” - Dale Carnegie
Literally since birth, we have been programmed to respond to the sound of our name. The use of a person's name connects us to our identity and our culture. If we can incorporate names in our interactions, we establish a quick and positive connection in a simple way.
Additionally, Sara is on a mission to remove the phrase, “I’m bad at names” from everyone’s vocabulary. She’ll give us alternative scripts that we can use if we do forget someone’s name, and strategic tools to help us remember people’s names from the first meeting.
Finally, she’ll give us some fun tips to practice in “low-stakes environments” which will most likely result in free drinks!
